The PicoWay® is an advanced type of pigment targeted laser that can treat freckles, lentigos (sun spots), seborrheic keratoses (age spots), melasma, some types of nevi (moles) and birthmarks.
PicoWay uses three wavelengths and ultra short picosecond (trillionths of a second) pulses to treat a broader range of skin types energy targeted at unwanted pigment, while leaving surrounding skin untouched. These pulses break up the pigment into smaller particles that are more easily eliminated by the body’s natural processes. Because it emits less heat than traditional lasers, PicoWay® provides a more comfortable treatment with fast results and virtually no downtime.
The PicoWay® is a light based treatment that targets the superficial epidermal pigment AND the deeper dermal pigmentation.
The photoacoustic energy generated shatters pigmented particles into tiny fragments without burning or damaging the skin. The body’s natural healing process expels the fragmented particles and encourages the production of fresh, new collagen and elastin.

What is the downtime for the PicoWay®?
Downtime includes redness and minor swelling which resolves within a few hours but may linger up to 24 hours. You may notice darkening of your existing pigment which will slough off after a few days. Avoid direct sun exposure and wear sunscreen.
Does it hurt?
We offer a topical numbing cream to alleviate the discomfort you may feel during the treatment.
Why do I need to avoid the sun during my PicoWay® treatments?
The skin is more vulnerable to sunlight after any laser treatment so wearing SPF30+ is extremely important. A “tan” is damage caused by solar radiation therefore to have sun exposure during treatments such as PicoWay® will result in both making it difficult to achieve an even skin tone and also make it more dangerous to provide a substantial treatment.
